What products does Ironwood Grooming make?

Ironwood Grooming handcrafts a full range of premium men's grooming products including beard oils, beard balms, beard butters, beard soap & conditioner, moustache wax, shaving essentials (bowls, brushes, soaps, aftershave), American steel beard combs & picks, natural bar soaps, and hair styling pomade.

What is the difference between beard balm and beard butter?

Beard Balm has a higher wax content that provides light-to-medium hold — ideal for shaping your beard, taming flyaways, and keeping your style in place all day. Beard Butter is lighter and built for deep nourishment, softening coarse beard hair, and conditioning from root to tip without heavy hold. Use balm when you want control; use butter when you want conditioning.

What is the difference between beard oil and beard balm?

Beard Oil is a lightweight liquid that absorbs directly into your skin and beard hair — it eliminates beard itch, hydrates the skin beneath your beard, and supports healthy growth. Beard Balm is a solid conditioning product that sits on your beard hair to shape, soften, and hold. Most men use both: oil first for skin hydration, balm after for shape and control.

How do I use beard oil?

Dispense 3–6 drops into your palm (adjust for beard length and climate). Rub your hands together and work the oil through your beard from skin to tip. Comb or shape as desired. Use daily after washing for best results.

How do I use beard balm or beard butter?

Scrape a pea-to-dime-sized amount onto your thumbnail. Warm between your palms until melted. Work through your beard from root to tip and shape as desired. Leave in — no rinse needed.

How long does one product last?

Our 2 fl oz / 59 ml beard oils typically last 1–2 months with daily use depending on beard length. Our 2 oz / 56 g balms and butters last 1–2 months. Our beard soap bars last up to 2 months with regular use.

Ingredients & Formulas

Are Ironwood Grooming products vegan?

Many of our products are 100% vegan. Our vegan beard balms and butters use candelilla wax instead of beeswax. Our vegan beard oils contain no animal-derived ingredients. All vegan products are clearly labeled. Non-vegan products use beeswax or other natural animal-derived ingredients.

Are your products cruelty-free?

Yes. Ironwood Grooming products are never tested on animals. We are committed to cruelty-free grooming across our entire product range.

Are your products free from harsh chemicals?

Yes. All Ironwood Grooming products are dye-free, palm-free, and formulated without harsh sulfates or synthetic detergents. We use premium plant-based carrier oils (argan, avocado, jojoba), natural butters (shea, avocado, mango), and either essential oils or safe fragrances.

What carrier oils do you use in your beard oils?

Our beard oil base uses Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, and Canola Oil. These carrier oils deliver deep hydration, essential fatty acids, and fast absorption without greasiness.

Do you use essential oils or synthetic fragrances?

We offer both. Our essential oil products use 100% natural essential oils (lavender, grapefruit, clary sage, sandalwood, etc.). Our safe fragrance products use phthalate-free, skin-safe fragrance blends. Each product listing clearly states which type of scent is used.

What is your return policy?

Yes. We ship to both the US and Canada. Shipping rates and delivery times vary by location and are calculated at checkout.
