The Ironwood Beard Starter Checklist
5 steps every man needs to start a beard the right way. No fluff. No guesswork. Just the method that works.
The 5-Step Ironwood Method
✓ Step 1: Commit to 6 Weeks — No Trimming
The awkward phase is real. Patchiness, uneven growth, and itch are all normal in weeks 2–5. Every man who pushes through it ends up with a better beard than the man who quit. Set a 6-week timer and don't touch the scissors.
✓ Step 2: Start Beard Oil on Day 1
Don't wait until the itch starts — prevent it. Apply Authentic Beard Oil every morning after washing your face. Work it into the skin beneath your beard first, then pull through the hair. 2–3 drops for stubble. 4–6 drops at 1 inch.
✓ Step 3: Wash 2–3x Per Week — Not Daily
Use a dedicated beard soap 2–3 times per week. Daily washing strips the natural oils your beard needs. On non-wash days, rinse with warm water only. Always apply beard oil immediately after washing while the beard is still slightly damp.
✓ Step 4: Add Beard Balm at 1 Inch
Once your beard reaches 1 inch, add Crown Beard Balm to your morning routine after your oil. Balm adds light-to-medium hold, tames flyaways, and gives your beard shape and structure. Warm a pea-sized amount between your palms and work through from root to tip.
✓ Step 5: Comb Every Day
Daily combing distributes your oil and balm evenly, trains the hair to grow in the right direction, prevents tangles, and exfoliates the skin beneath. Use an Ironwood stainless steel comb after applying product each morning. Comb again before bed to set direction overnight.
